EARLY REPORTING OF FORM ONE STUDENT AND ITS IMPACT ON HIV SPREAD IN KENYA

Schools have just opened. And the form one selection which took earlier than any other time in the Kenyan history was done. Another historical event is to take place; reporting date is today 9th of January 2017.The parents find this upheaval task. So is the human immunodeficiency virus and drug and substance abuse. The juvenile prison and early pregnancy too are at risk. No time is spared for the young minds. Moral decadency too is a thing that has no room. Celebration here celebration there. Moral prefects are celebrating. The microbiologists who take time to understand microbial burden and infectious diseases have something to note. I can hypotheses with accuracy that juvenile sexually transmitted infection will be low. Because there is no time for that.         Dr Mating'i was God sent. Not to parents alone but to Kenya as a country. Where was this hardworking intelligent and one who believe that things can always change for the better? Where was he when statistics claimed that more children are infected with HIV and many school going children are dropping out due to early pregnancy? Was he waiting and biting his fingers for this opportunity? God has something great for him. I will not talk about educational quality because when cheating was rampant then at our times there were so many of us who were innocent that got the wrath of the society for not getting an A when you met the Liebig condenser and the burette during you KCSE chemistry exam for the first  time! But still led the leader! What about those who got Ds. I mean genuine Ds. These are the current employers of those who got As then! Am not jealousy of those who through shortcut made to the top. God might have forgiven them, that’s why some of them hold plum jobs with their papers. Who am I to judge? Am just but a mortal man.  Across sectional study done in July October 2011 in India shows that students of tenth to twelfth  grade which is the equivalent age group of our form one students  found out that  95.1% of  the girls  know that HIV  is transmitted through unprotected sex. With advent of facebook and the internet the devil is on the sprawl. The orgy sites and the downloadable adult movies iced with the soap opera, doesn’t sex come to the mind of the idle child? Peer pressure or devil pressure paly the pivotal role of catalyzing the whole epitome. Modernization and the busy schedules of the parents to earn a living leaves the adolescent child unprotected and unguided. When we threw over the window the extended family model and for those who maintain its ‘hands off my child’ makes the matter even worse! What miracle do we expect for a teenage child to be morally upright? Aren’t we the society that would cringe and cry fowl when bizarre behaviors are embraced by our young adults? The cabinet secretary has played his role. He has more roles to play to salvage the future generation. My sister has done counseling psychology. This will come in handy for our caged children. To help them discern the right from the wrong and remain with the former. I was never exposed to such. My daughter would by fortunate to get a counselor who would work with her in her teenage years. Guide her in her career path and life. This is because life has options. And it takes second to chose one.
